Project 12:31- Photography made from a murderer!

Incredible series of photographs from Croix Gagnon and Frank Schott. In 1993 a convicted murderer was executed. His body was given to science, segmented and photographed for medical science. The photographs put it back together with powerful results. See the series here.

Each image was created with a combination of night photography and long-exposure photographs of the animation below:

Source Data for Photography/12:31 from Croix Gagnon on Vimeo.

This animation represents the entire data set (1,871 slices) of the male cadaver from the Visible Human Project. The animation was played fullscreen on a computer, which was moved around by an assistant while being photographed in a dark environment. The resulting images are long-exposure “light paintings” of the entire cadaver. Variations in the movement of the computer during each exposure created differences in the shape of the body throughout the series. See more about this here.

Shinichi-Maruyama- Kusho Series!

The Kusho series consists of twenty-three large-scale color photographs featuring ink and water in motion.
The split-second timing necessary to photograph these pictures is made possible by recent advances in strobe light technology, allowing the artist, Shinichi- Maruyama, to capture phenomena in most instances at 7,500th of a second, and, in the few close-up images of droplets, at an astonishing 20,000th of a second.

Nokia Dot!

Superb film by Aardman, promoting the Nokia N8 Dot camera. This has also entered the Guinness book of world records for “smallest character in a stop motion animation”. I’m sure they have made that catergory up, but cool none the less.
